Potty Time

Today we officially started potty training!  For a couple of months we've had the pottys around, and encouraged Ethan to use it before bath time (which he has done sometimes) so we thought it was time to give it a try.  Learning to use the potty is a part of his Personal, Social and Emotional Development.  We've tried to make it fun by using a Sesame Street Potty Time book, which has colouring pages and a big reward chart with stickers.

We're starting slowly with potty training, as Ethan is still quite young and we're not sure if he's ready we're keeping him in pull ups, but otherwise following the usual guidelines.  Asking him to go every 30 minutes or so, and giving him lots of praise when he's successful (and just for trying).  So far it's going really well, we'll have to wait and see though!  He definitely loves the reward chart with Elmo stickers, the only problem is that when he gets one he just wants more stickers!  He's never had a reward chart before, so he doesn't quite get how it works.  We'll have to work on that one too ;)
