Heart Stamps Valentine's Day Cards

08:30

It's almost Valentine's Day and we are turning everything heart shaped!  Today we're making cards with a variety of heart shaped stampers, which is just so much fun to make!

What you'll need:
  • paper
  • red and pink paint
  • heart shaped sponges
  • potatoes

Before I called the children over to the table I prepared the potato stampers by cutting them in half and then cutting a heart shape into each one.  Then on the back I cut a handle into each potato stamp as well, to make it easier for the children to hold.

Then I set out the paints and stampers on the table and called the kids over.  Ethan was very surprised and intrigued to see potatoes on the table, he thought it was hilarious and couldn't wait to try them out!  Then I just let the children stamp and stamp till their hearts content.  We used heart shaped sponges as well, but it shouldn't be too hard to cut regular sponges into heart shapes for the children to use if you couldn't find ones that are already heart shaped.

Both Ethan and Ivy loved it so much I had to get out more an more paper for them to stamp all over!

Once the paint was dry we used some sheets as they were to make cards, just folding them in half ready to write our messages inside.

For the others we cut out a few of the heart shapes and glued then onto a piece of folded card.

These are going to be our special Valentine's that the children give to a few chosen loved ones.

  1. Very cute ideas, I love potato stamps. I've not done them with Luke yet so maybe we'll give it a go sometime soon. Ray x #ToddlerFunFriday
