Valentine Beaded Hearts

08:30

A great craft for Valentine's Day is to make these beaded hearts that we got from Baker Ross in the Heart Bead Decoration kit.

These kits come with everything you need to make 6 beaded hearts, including all of the beads, pipe cleaners, ribbons and a bell for the bottom of each one.

Ethan couldn't wait to get started choosing the beads that he liked to make his heart.  I asked him if he wanted to make a pattern or to make one like on the packet, but he had his own plan to choose his beads and I didn't stand in his way.

First Ethan formed the pipe cleaner into a heart shape, then threaded the bell into the middle.  After that he started with his beads, and commented how much easier it was to put the beads on.  It's so good for his fine motor development to do beading activities, and it's much easier to use a pipe cleaner than a string as the beads don't fall off once they're on.

After that he was on a roll, I had to stop him when he got to the end to leave a bit of space to put it together, he wanted to just keep going and going!

When the pipe cleaner was full of beads with put the two ends together and wrapped them around to finish off our heart shapes.  Then we attached the ribbons so that we could hang our hearts up as decorations around the house.  They look fantastic!
