Today we added a sticker to our ‘Waiting for Baby’
calendar, a sticker to represent 40 weeks pregnant, that's right, baby is due today! I wasn’t even sure that we would be needing
this many stickers (as Ethan was born at 38 weeks) but here we are. We’ve been doing a lot of things to prepare
Ethan to be a big brother, and I’m hoping that he understands more now as baby
really could arrive any day now.
Here’s what we’ve done so far:
Preparing
Ethan to be a Big Brother
- Read books about babies and becoming a big brother (There's a House Inside my Mummy, Waiting for Baby and I'm a New Big Brother)
- Waiting for baby calendar
- Looking at baby photos of Ethan together and talking about what he was like when he was a baby, and when he was in Mommy’s tummy
- Feeding and being gentle with Baby BornInteractive
- Bonding with baby bump, talking to baby, learning to be gentle and giving baby kisses and cuddles
- Meeting other babies
- Choosing a present to buy for baby, and then talking about how little baby is going to be when they wear or play with the present
- Changing Baby Born’s nappy
- Make a card for baby, yet another opportunity to talk about baby’s arrival and what baby might like
- Giving Baby Born a bath, a reminder of how gentle we have to be with babies and how Ethan can be a very good helper to Mommy
Wish us luck!
