Ethan's Lego Batman Sixth Birthday Party

07:30

Ethan is six! I can hardly believe it, but of course now that he is a bit older he is choosing his own birthday party themes, and for him there was really only one option, Lego Batman.  He is a Lego fanatic and seeing the Lego Batman movie earlier this year was one of his highlights, so of course this is the best possible theme for him.  We decided again to have quite a big party and invite his whole class, as he still seems to play with lots of different children and it would be too difficult to narrow it down to just a few friends.

We had the party at the sports facilities of a local university.  I never considered this as a party venue before, but it worked out fantastically well.  There is a huge gym room that easily held all of children with lots of space to run around.  I was able to choose two different sports for them to participate in, so I chose athletics and football as they are most familiar with those.  Then the three coaches took over and kept the children busy for an hour and a half, it was fantastic.  Most of the kids joined in, but as there was extra space it was easy for the others to run around and make their own fun, which was also quite nice.

The only thing that I provided for this part of the party was water for some very thirsty children, so I made some Lego Batman labels and attached them to water bottles, and also labelled each bottle with the child's name on the top so that they wouldn't mix up their identical bottles.

I did get to decorate the party room though, so this was our chance to go all out and really make the room look Lego Batman fantastic!  I was sent some fantastic Lego Batman themed items and a personalised banner from Party Pieces, and also ordered some block party items to compliment the other decorations.  We had:

  • Lego Batman tablecloths for the cake table
  • Block Party tablecloths for the party guest tables
  • Lego Batman plates
  • Lego Batman napkins
  • Block Party personalised banner
  • Lego Batman banner
  • Lego Batman balloon
  • Block party bunting
  • Batman themed signs that we made

With such a large number of guests I decided not to make the food myself, I always find that it stresses me out and I would rather make the fun little additions myself and order the basics.  We had:

I was a bit inspired for the party favours by the DIY Lego Busy Box that I made for Ethan earlier this year, and wondered if I could make a mini version for each of the party guests.  I used:

The children all had so much fun, it got a bit chaotic and noisy, but really that's what you expect from a six year old's birthday party!  Ethan was thrilled to have all of his friends there and was talking about it for days.  Looking forward to attempting a slightly lower key party next year though!

Pin this idea for later:
