Winter Travel with our Diono Radian 5 Car Seat

07:30

We've got a new car seat for Ivy and it's just in time for all of the winter travelling that we'll be doing.  Christmas always involves lots of long car trips, so it's really important that both of the children are comfortable and safe in the car.  The car seat that we are trying out is the new Diono Radian 5 with great safety and comfort features.

We opened up the car seat and set it up quickly and easily using the videos which help to make it clear to set up whichever way you choose to.  We have tried Ivy in the seat forward facing because it is what she is used to, but we could try her in the rear facing option as well (even though she's nearly 3, which is incredible for safety).  I love that the car seat comes with everything you need to set it up either way (even the cup holder, which Ivy absolutely loves already!)

She was very excited to get into the car and try out her new car seat.  She easily climbed into her seat and was strapped in comfortably.  I like that the seat is adjustable so that we could make it nice and cosy around her.  Ivy's favourite part is still the cup holder, we'll definitely be putting a few extras in there too, so that she can easily reach snacks and toys on long car trips too.

So we are all set for our long drives in the car this winter with Ivy in her great new car seat which she is comfortable in and we feel confident that she is safe in it as well.  And for future travel we are very excited to have a car seat that folds flat and even fits into a travel bag (sold separately).  So next time we're going on holiday and flying somewhere on an aeroplane we won't have to worry about Ivy's car seat, we can easily take it out of the car at the airport and put it into the travel bag and be on our way.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a lightweight car seat, you won't be slinging this bag over your shoulder and walking all around town.  It is a heavy duty car seat with that full frame seat and other safety and comfort features.  But the fact that it folds in half and fits in a bag (that you can then pop onto your airport trolley!) is a real help for a family like us who makes trips back to Canada and South Africa frequently.  We always travel with our own car seats because we want to know that the children will be safe wherever we are, but carrying around those bulky seats just isn't easy, so this will be a big help for us.
