How we Organise and Store our Lego

08:30

We love Lego!  Since Ethan was 18 months old and got his first Duplo set to now at 4 1/2 years old when he's wanting a new Lego set every time we set foot in a shop!  We keep all of our Duplo in a great big storage box, but we it's a big different with Lego, we want to be able to display our creations and find the pieces that we need easily.

We've set up a bit of a Lego corner in Ethan's bedroom by putting up some Ikea Mammut Shelves to display all of the Lego creations that he's already made.  Our main issue is that he never wants to take any of them apart, so at this rate we are going to need more shelves!

Once he has made his Lego vehicle or scene (we only buy the small sets for now as he is only 4) then we store the instructions in a little plastic pouch so that they're all together.  Just in case he ever does decide to take them apart and wants to put them back together again!

And now we're very excited to be adding the Blokpod to our Lego storage plan!  This is a brilliant way to keep all of Ethan's Lego together and organised.  It's a tall tower with 4 different compartments separated by layers with varying sizes of holes in them to sort the Lego by size.  You start by taking off the lid of the Blokpod, turning it and lifting it up.

Then you pour all of your assorted Lego pieces into the Blokpod.  We were storing them in various small containers based on what they were, but we could now pour all of those containers into the Blokpod to be sorted.

Then Ethan gave the Blokpod a little shake and all of the Lego sorted into the different levels.  The tiniest pieces go all the way to the bottom, slightly larger above, larger above that and the biggest pieces and built sections stay on the top level.

It is brilliant and looks fantastic!  Such an easy way to sort Lego and then to find the Lego pieces that you're looking for.  And it really is quite large, so there is lots of space to fit many more Lego sets (much to Ethan's delight!)

We are big Lego fans so I am sure that this will all be used regularly and that we will be adding more shelves, more pouches and eventually even a second Blokpod to our system, but it is a great way to find everything that we need!

    1. Ours does still sneak into other rooms, but at least we have one central place to keep it when we do manage a tidy up!

  5. I love the idea of that blokpod - my son has his in boxes under his bed and it's been a long time since he's played with it so it might be time to get rid here but this would have been great for when he played with it all the time x

  6. I saw the Blokpod on Instagram and really liked it but had no idea that the grids on the bottom are there for a reason. I like it even more now. What a great product and thanks for enlightening me.
