Spooky Halloween House Craft

21:10

We are starting our Halloween crafting a bit early this year with these adorable little haunted houses for the kids to play with.  We love to make crafts that can be played with and don't just sit on a shelf, and these are the perfect size for all sorts of little toys to play in and create a Halloween small world.

What you'll need:
  • mini cereal boxes
  • scissors
  • Bostik glu dots
  • foam sheets
  • Halloween confetti
  • Halloween ribbon
  • black electrical tape

I started by preparing the mini cereal boxes, cutting a large set of doors in the front, as this is quite tricky to do.  I did this ahead of time as well as cutting the foam sheets to the size of each side of the box.

Then I gave the children the cereal boxes, the foam sheets and some glue dots to stick them on all the sides.  It's a great way to work on their skills for lining up the pieces straight.

Once all of the sides were covered I helped the children to cut the foam sheet at the front to match up with the doors on the box and then we used the black electrical tape to go along the doors so that they would be more sturdy and wouldn't come apart whilst the kids play with them.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the kids both found the glu dots to use, after being showed just once they were both able to peel the backing off, apply the glue dot to their chosen spot, press it down and remove the plastic to leave the glue dot.

They then placed glue dots all around their little houses and stuck on all sorts of spooky Halloween themed confetti.

We also cut out some pieces of Halloween ribbon and the children also used glu dots to stick those their their little houses.  The great part was that when they were finished they didn't have to wait for the glue to dry and could just play with their haunted houses straight away!
