Ethan is a huge fan of building and making, he will put together and take apart absolutely anything that he can. We already have a lot of other building sets in the house, but somehow we don't have any K'NEX yet, well that has all changed now that we have the K'NEX Thrill Rides Web Weaver Roller Coaster.
Ethan was so excited to get into this set as soon as it arrived, he has literally never seen anything like it and couldn't imagine that he would be able to build something that would actually have a working roller coaster whizz around it!
We started by separating all of the pieces by colour and shape into small pots so that it would be easy to find the pieces that we needed when we needed them.
Then Ethan got started by following the instructions to make the structure at the base of the roller coaster. This is a fun new challenge for him to build a 3D structure with a variety of different pieces and having to place some of them at different angles. He did very well at following the step by step instructions and finding the pieces that he needed.
He was so excited to see his structure getting taller and taller and to learn the different ways that the pieces could fit together. He needed a little bit of help to secure some of the pieces and sometimes to check that things were going in the right direction.
As Ethan neared the end he was so excited to see the pile of pieces dwindling down and to know that it was almost time to play with the roller coaster, he just couldn't wait!
Finally it was time to add on the web designed plates for the sides of the roller coaster which really made it all come together.
Then Ethan added the glow in the dark roller coaster tracks to go all around the structure, clipping perfectly into place with the pieces that stick out on the sides. The finished roller coaster stands almost as tall as Ethan and it is seriously incredible to look at.
Finally it was time to play with the very cool little rechargeable roller coaster piece that clips onto the tracks and seriously zooms around at top speed. It is fantastic and Ethan absolutely loves playing with it. Now Ethan can't wait to add more pieces to his K'NEX collection!
