Sensory Water Bottle

12:10

Today I made Ethan a sensory water bottle to play with.  It is such an easy toy to make for a small baby who isn't yet ready to explore other sensory materials (as they are still putting everything in their mouths!)

What you'll need:

  • empty water bottle
  • water
  • oil
  • glitter
  • food colouring
  • glue
  • tape

I filled an empty water bottle with water and a bit of baby oil, added some blue food colouring and silver glitter.  Then I glued the lid on and when the glue was dry I wrapped tape all around the lid as well, just to be safe!  I know that this bottle is going to be shaken and thrown around a lot and I don't want it spilling!

Ethan was entranced by it, tipping it up and down and watching it as we rolled it along the floor. Such a simple toy to make, but he had so much fun playing with it.  Another great sensory activity for his Knowledge and Understanding of the World as he learns about different substances and how they move.  It's also great for encouraging small babies to crawl and they roll it and chase after it.
