Our Favourite Patriotic Books

11:00

As Canadians in the UK we have become very patriotic!  And I absolutely love that schools here really embrace all celebrations from around the world, and we're always happy to share our favourite Canada Day books with our friends.  We've also come across a few fantastic books for Independence Day through the American families that we've met here that we're sharing with you today.

My absolute favourite book for Canada Day is M is for Maple.  It has the most gorgeous illustrations that you've ever seen and goes through each letter of the alphabet with a paragraph about something to do with Canada.  It is very informative and really pulls you in to want to turn those pages and learn more about Canada.  I also love ABC of Canada as it's great for younger kids.  It's a similar alphabet format but comes as a board book and has only one sentence per page.

Canada in Words is perfect for Canadian families who live in different countries, it's an education in the truly unique language of Canadians and helps my kids to understand why I call a winter hat a tuque!  Goodnight Canada is another really sweet book and a lovely way to learn about Canada and to finish off your Canada Day celebrations.

Our favourite books for Independence Day are Celebrate the 50 States and Hats off for the Fourth of July.  They help to teach kids about all of the American states as well as what Independence Day is all about.
