Ten Great Books about Starting School

07:30

It is almost time for children to go back to school and for the little ones who are starting school for the first time it can really be a lot handle.  One way that we prepare for a lot of big events is to read lots of books and learn as much as we can about what's to come.  Ethan starts preschool in September, so I've been looking for some lovely books to help him to feel ready.

If you're looking for a classic you've got to get Starting School by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. We love other books by then so it definitely makes a good addition to your bookshelf to read now and in the future.  Another classic is Going to Nursery great for the little ones starting nursery for the first time and just sweet illustrations to make you feel nostalgic for starting school.  We also love all of the first experiences series books, so of course we had to get Going to School (Usborne First Experiences) as it goes through the whole experience step by step and explains everything clearly.

We also looked for some books with familiar characters so that Ethan could see some of the people that he already knows and that they go to school as well.  So we like Topsy and Tim: Start SchoolMaisy Goes to PreschoolPirate Pete: I'm Starting Nursery,
Spot Loves NurseryHarry and the Dinosaurs go to SchoolCurious George's First Day of School and Starting School (Biff, Chip and Kipper).
