Our Favourite Family Eco Products

18:00

I've realised recently how many cool eco toys and gadgets that we have that we couldn't live without, so it's really time to share about all of these items that we absolutely love!  We are passionate about doing our part for the environment and cutting back on our plastic usage, and as a family I know that we create a lot of waste, so we are doing our best to cut back in as many ways as we can!  We are far from perfect, but are hoping that these small changes will make an impact.

Our Favourite Eco Water Bottles:

  • For the children we love these Thermos Funtainer water bottles as they keep the drinks cold, they're easy for the children to open, they come in cute designs and they are very sturdy (they really withstand a lot with our two throwing them around!)
  • And for the adults we love these bottle style stainless steel vacuum insulated water bottles, they keep drinks hot or cold all day and are easy to carry around

Our Favourite Eco Coffee Cups:

  • I am a big coffee drinker so I need quite a good selection of coffee cups, my favourite is the Thermos Travel Tumbler, it's kept my coffee hot on many chilly school runs and watching sports out in the cold!
  • I also love the huge Thermos Beverage Bottle for when I'm carrying coffee for the whole day (or hot chocolate to share with the family)
  • When I'm out and about I like to carry around a smaller collapsible coffee cup so that it's easy to pop into my bag when I'm not using it.

Our Favourite Eco Straws:

  • My girl is a big fan of a babyccino and insists on drinking one with a straw, so it's great to carry our own straws around.  Because babyccinos are hot we use the bamboo straws to drink them.
  • For cold drinks we use metal straws (these are my favourite as they are easier to clean, the only downside is that they do get very hot in hot drinks.)

Our Favourite Eco Shopping Bags:

  • I love the Orla Kiely ones that they sell at Tesco, I also have one of the Anya Hindmarsh ones from a few years ago that I love, but otherwise I really just seem to collect them from everywhere.  I like good strong handles, it's nice if they are washable or wipeable to last a bit longer.

Our Favourite Eco Vegetable Bags:

  • I've got some vegetable bags that I bring to the grocery store for loose fruit and vegetables.  These ones are great, they have a drawstring to seal them and I can easily wash them between uses.

Our Favourite Eco Snack Bags and Lunch Boxes:

  • We absolutely love these mini snack happens bags for after school snacks and get asked about them all the time! Of course we have loads of square and round containers that we use for snacks as well, but they can be awkward when we are scooting home from school.  These are perfect! I've attached a clip to them so we can put them on their scooters, they've got a zip for easy access and I can wipe them down easily or put them in the wash when they get very dirty.  Love them!
  • We are also big fans of the YumBox for packed lunches, they are so great as they fit absolutely everything (and look very impressive, even if you've just thrown everything in!) in a bento box style lunch and are very sturdy and last for ages.

Our Favourite Eco Snacks with Biodegradable Packaging:

  • Of course we do bring packaged snacks with us sometimes when it is more convenient, and we are so happy to have found Wallaroo dried fruit snacks that come in home compostable packaging!  (Wallaroo kindly sent us some of their snacks to try)

Our Favourite Eco Food Prep and Storage:

Our Favourite Eco Wipes and Cleaning Materials:

  • I used to use Cheeky Wipes when the children were in nappies, I loved how it came in a whole kit with the boxes and the essential oils.  And now I've still got some of their bamboo hand and face wipes, which are so much better than using loads of napkins at meal times!
  • I am also using reusable make up wipes now to do my part as well
  • And around the house I am absolutely addicted to Method cleaning products, they smell incredible (I recycle the bottles, but would of course prefer a refillable situation)
