Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere

22:12

We've been reading a fun Halloween book called Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere and it's inspired us to have some pumpkin fun!

The book goes through a series of different emotions as they are carved into pumpkins on their way to a pumpkin parade!  So we decided to make our own pumpkins to put everywhere in the house.  I used some simple clip art to print out a sheet of blank pumpkins for Ivy to colour in.  She loves to colour, so she was happy to sit and colour the pumpkins in orange.

For Ethan I printed the pumpkins out on orange paper so that he could focus more on the faces.  In the story it goes through a range of emotions and scenarios for the pumpkins, so we went through the book together and Ethan drew the different faces on his pumpkins.  This gave us the chance to talk about different feelings and how the faces show how the pumpkins feel.  Ethan was really good at understanding the different facial expressions and doing his best to draw them.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere is a lovely Halloween story and it gave us a great opportunity to explore our own feelings as well as those of the pumpkins in the story.
