Our Kitchen Story

17:15

Our kitchen truly is the place where it all happens in our house!  Play is certainly not restricted to one room of the house, but the kitchen does see a lot of it.  We were asked to share our kitchen story with BritMums as part of the "My Kitchen Story" Linky Challenge, sponsored by Fairy Platinum.

Of course we prepare food, eat and spend time together as a family in our kitchen, a lot of Ethan and Ivy's toys end up strewn around the kitchen and we do most of our crafting and baking around the kitchen table.  But this particular challenge, as it is related to Fairy dishwasher tablets, did make me laugh because we have actually created fun activities related to washing up.

As a stay at home Mum I'm always looking for creative ways of keeping the kids busy and helping them to learn through play, but I'm also trying to do the day to day things around the house.  So it isn't surprising that Ethan has often been an excellent helper with the dishes.  He loves washing up (all those bubbles!) and he loves loading and unloading the dishwasher.  I even discovered what a great activity it was to take cutlery in an out of the dishwasher, fantastic for fine motor development!  I called it Spoons in the Cutlery Tray and you can read about it here.

  1. I think I will send my children to you to see if you can persuade them to get involved in washing up. Lovely post. Commenting for myself and on behalf of BritMums and thanking you for taking part
