Today our coloured rice that we made yesterday is dry and ready to be played with! It's a great sensory material to explore, excellent for Ethan's Knowledge and Understanding of the World.
First I put it all in a jar and let Ethan shake it around to get all of the clumps out. Then we poured it into a big container and found some scoops, cups and other fun things to play with. Ethan stirred the rice around and picked it up in various ways. Of course it smells amazing because of the Kool Aid, so he did attempt to eat it a few times, but he was easily distracted by other ways of playing with it. It really is a fun way to explore and a great way to work on fine motor control as he used different tools and picked up individual grains of rice.
